‘Outsight’ is a dystopian art installation that imagines a future of no rivers, where artist mothers have to build creative spaces in order to teach their children about the rivers of the past. The work shows the Bulgarian river Struma’s flora tangled up in plastic debris, purged from her waters in an angry rejection of humankind’s consumerist culture. The scent residing in the space encapsulates the sense of burning ruins, confining nature in a catastrophic aftermath that could still nurture regeneration.
